Music at home?

mu·sic
noun
1.
an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions insignificant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.
2.
the tones or sounds employed, occurring in single line(melody) or multiple lines (harmony), and sounded or to besounded by one or more voices or instruments, or both.

Music makes me lose control. A line Missy Elliot once used in a song a few years back, quite a hit back in the day if i remember correctly? Anywho, I gotta say the contrary, music gives me control. I'm sure most of you out there would agree too, that music helps us in most situations whether its the rough times, the tough times or the good times.

Music has become such a big part of my life now a days, and i'm pretty sure it is for almost every single person out there. With the introduction of portable music players like mp3's and Walkmans and even smartphones these days, people carry music on them almost every single day. When i'm travelling on the trains and buses through Stockholm I feel panicked and stressed out if I don't have my mp3 playing. I need it to survive, literally. No one wants to sit and listen to all the boring chitchat, not that there is much here on Swedish transport, and having that little space to yourself where you can gaze out the window and just listen to awesome music, is a must!

Music at home is a different thing these days where everything is becoming more and more digital every day. We don't buy CD's anymore. I know this for a fact as I worked in one of Scandinavias biggest digital media logistics firms, and I can say this - there are A LOT of music CD's in the returns section due to people downloading - legally and illegally of course.

One of these legal ways is a new fad, which actually originates from Stockholm, Sweden and was created by a few school kids. Spotify is a digital platform which can be used to both listen, read up on and even buy music from. It's become really big here in Sweden, of course lol, and was recently released in the US. No surprise, they were sued within a week by all the artists haha, fucking America. Btw, just waiting on the answer from SBCC now before I know whether I will be moving there for two years or not! Can't wait! Or, I can, but not too long though.. few things here I would like to fix ;) Back on topic.. They recently, more like a few months ago, changed Spotify from being completely free with commercials to being 10 hours a month, 5 times per song (FOREVER LOL?! just noticed that) and filled with commercials. This sucks! I had one of the Spotify unlimited accounts which gave me unlimited music with a few commercials. Now of course, thanks to the invention of money (assholes who ever it was that invented money omg -.-) we have to pay, a small fee though, to listen to our favorite music. That is just lame mayn.

On the other hand, another digital platform is Grooveshark. Created a few years ago by a couple of Americans rather than Swedes. I don't know too much about it, except that unlike Spotify its a web based flash program used to stream music. Spotify on the other hand is a downloadable program used to stream music. Grooveshark is completely free, featuring a payable premium account much like Spotify, has what I believe to be a BROADER selection of music, and is completely AD FREE! While listening that is, some adds on the sides but Spotify has that too hehe ;) As you can see the layouts are pretty much the same, both being fairly straight forward and simple. Search for songs, create a playlist, save them and listen to them later!

Hope you guys can take advantage of this and help Grooveshark grow!

Lez go.

Typhoon Lagoon

And of course how could I forget, the latest indoor photo shoot produced by Red Bull at at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon!

Wave Garden

Internet!

The concept behind indoor surfing has been around for a while now with a couple of really good attempts. We have the Flowrider and FlowBarrel, which is, put simply, a plastic bump at the bottom of a pool which has high pressure water flowing over it to create a torrent of water. The water then travels up the bump forming the base of a green wave, ie: real wave, not broken, not whitewater etc.. There are a few different heights for these bumps, some creating a simple downward angled surfable "water platform" so to speak, and the others creating something that actually resembles a wave. Today there are over 100 FlowRiders and FlowBarrels around the globe, check em!

FlowRider here..

And FlowBarrel here..

Now last time I checked we lived in the 21st century, meaning we have access to some pretty fucking awesome technology. We have the ability to drive to 300 km/h or more, fly at the speed of sound, travel space, hell we can even grow humans in little test tubes (haha). One totally awesome thing with today's technology is Wave Garden.

Wave Garden is the first of its kind, portable (ish) Wave Generator. It was designed by two  people who had a knack for building skate parks. They decided to combine their building with their passion - surfing. The research and project leading began in 2005 and was tested in Basque Country, France. More can be read at Wavegarden

Here we have two World Qualifying Series (WQS) surfers going head to head in an actual heat in order to test the Wave Garden. A few months back Jordy Smith and a couple of other guys tested it too, saying it was surprisingly good :)

Nice!

#QuikProNYC

It's on! Still haven't seen the waves yet, hopefully they pumping in New York! Interested to see if Balaram Stack is gonna be surfing either as a local random wildcard or as a guest or something. Long Beach is kinda known to the surfing world as his spot, and the kid is what, 20? He would make a much cooler Justin Bieber.

This kid rips, huge future and uhm.. an interesting name? Haha good luck dude.

Heres the link to the live feed: #QuikProNYC

Something I wrote about 4 years ago for school, a shitty little poem haha, not exactly canon material but ye..

Surfing, a childhood memory.
I met up with my buddies ‘n we went down to the shore
To catch some good waves and kill the bore
When we got there it was kinda’ late
The sharks were all out there waiting for bait
We were riding real fast all the way from the start
The joy and the rush will stay in my heart

Something to remember for the rest of my days
The tide and the flood and the crushing blue waves
You can always wait for your ship to come in
But in doing that you just can’t win

Take that moment of sun, sea and sand
Carry it with you tight it your hand
Don’t wait for the wave, you haven’t got a clue
When it’ll happen, when it’ll come to you
So get out there ‘n catch it and remember the ride
On dark rainy days with no one by your side.

Enjoy the show! Lez go!

tumblr

Interwebs!

Top of the morning to ya, today will be a bit different in terms of posting. First, gonna talk about the dreaded tumblr fad, then post some interesting pics from tumblr that i actually thought were kinda cool/related to how me or the average person thinks?! Awesome shit i know, lez go.

Right so, Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and MySpace. These are prob the main social networking/blog utilities available to us today. The biggest one, most prolly being Facebook with all the millions of people worldwide behind it, using it every day.. Heck they even made a movie! I put the line thru that cuz I personally thought the movie sucked, anyways.. Twitter is cool for keeping up to date with what’s going on, the 140~ character limit is a real bitch but at the same time a life saver - it lets me get the latest news and titbits from errywhere in just a few short sentences opposed to having to read an entire article online about it some where else?! Epic I know right ^^, MySpace as far as I know and care, is d.e.a.d and has been for a long time I believe? I remember when I was like 15 or 16 and thought of starting one but it was all just so messy and ugly, never really took a liking to it hehe. Now, this one is interesting and I’ve saved it to last for a reason - Tumblr.

I dunno really what the deal with tumblr is, it’s a personal image board mixed with a blog mixed with Twitter? Amirite? So therefore it must be a ...plog? or something along those lines? Help me out here if u know oh mighty interwebz! The thing is, a couple of people i know have tumblr, and through that i always find some really interesting pictures there. Where do you people get these pictures haha? I know you all doing the retumbl thing, i.e. retweet, but then the originals, where’d they come from? If I were to Google one of those pics i most prolly wouldn’t find them, especially the ones with the quirky little sayings etc..

A friend of mine has been pushing me to get tumblr, I’m not convinced yet though. Looks as if you can have a pretty sweet looking layout, and pretty much customize it to exactly what you want. Sounds promising enough.. I've found a couple of cool tumblr pages already, just randomly browsing. Some made by famous people and others that just spew out awesome looking pictures or pictures you can really relate to.. I really dunno what to do, would be cool. Feels like at least now, I’m in that kinda mind space (lol myspace? :P) to retumbl half the stuff that i see because, well, the fact is i can actaulyl relate to it haha? Sounds weird, makes me feel kinda, chic, and so average in a way but its kinda true?! Hmm wat do.

I once saw a pic somewhere on someone’s tumblr where there was a text, it went something like; Facebook: Find out you have nothing in common with your friends. Tumblr: Find out there are people feeling exactly like you all over the world.

Aaaand, are we sposed to take the things posted on tumblr literally? Like, a lot of the posts are a picture with some text on it, or a text message or even just something someone had written in notepad. How is one supposed to interpret those kinda images? Does one simply retumbl because one thinks its cool or smart or because we actually relate to it? Or are we trying to get a message across and prove a point to some one? Sigh, the dilemmas of modern day communication, aka social networking. It's so hard to find true emotion in anything that is posted these days..

Here’s a couple of these posts and pics i was talking about, just a few I have saved here and there.. Enjoy ;) Disclaimer: These aint mine and they might cause emotional problems.

These guys are so fucking awesome.

bleeeeh gifs wont play on mah blog, click em to see em move!

A female

God dammit its so cold outside. I'm sitting at McDonald's hiding from the cold for my bus which comes in 20min. Just been out in town, the sky was crystal clear blue - easily a 25 degree day if it had been real summer.. checking the temp earlier and now, it barely even reached 20 today argh! Lame.

Don't have much to say, except that I met that friend, anonymous, in town today. I gotta say it was pretty different. Never really Hung out with this person one on one but I decided to it anyways, was interesting hehe. We just sat and talked mostly, about nothing at all really. Or well theoretically about something duh, but it was still the same subjects pretty much. Not that its a bad thing, not at all just felt like noting that haha.

Being with anon was cool, haven't really had too much female contact in general lately so twas much appreciated. Discussing various things like money situations, travelling, moving, life outside of Sweden etc. Getting a different persons point of view for once was surprisingly.. pleasant :D

Towards the end it was surprisingly sad to see them taking the train but who knows when we may see each other again hehe :D

Here is a pic of Anon ;D

A motherfucking martian

As we all know, the other day MTV had their annual Video Music Awards, or dem VMA's. A bunch of really uninteresting things happened, like Beyonce announcing a child. So what who cares lol everyone has kids eventually.. What does it matter? What a way to steal the show, bitch. Either way, Wiz Khalifa didn't manage to win this years best new artist or whatever it was, only Tyler the Creator did. Tbh i hadn't even heard of him until he actually won something at the VMA's. How does this happen haha? I know im not that behind on the music scene.. at least not the scene that both of them are doing atm.

His most famous song is prob this one called Yonkers - which frankly, isn't even a song if u ask me. Sure if has a sick bass line with some nice drops and stuff, good beat etc etc but it's not really him singing? He isn't even really rapping.. He just kinda talks really slow, dark and monotone to the mic. Nothing too special I think Wiz should have one due to the simple fact that he has so much more variety. Maybe not in subjects, since most of his songs revolve around smoking weed and Taylor Gang, but come on? Tyler is just so.. bland.

One song i do like by him, or not even by him its by the Game, featuring Lil Wayne and Tyler, is called Martians vs. Goblins. It's aiight, never been a big fan of Lil Wayne but the Game makes alright stuff. This collaboration worked pretty decent I thought hehe.

Check it!

Gonna see if i can manage to run into town today to meet a friend! Hopefully plans go accordingly otherwise it prob wont happen.. She is busy getting her haircut and the guy is retardedly slow/late?! Sigh.

Lez go
